Over the next nine years, the cooperative aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from its European industrial sites by 65%1 , requiring investment of €800 million. This ambitious decarbonization trajectory aims to achieve net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across the Group's entire value chain, from its agricultural activities to the processing and marketing of its products, by 2050 at the latest. To achieve this, Tereos has drawn up an extensive programme to reduce energy consumption, improve energy efficiency and electrify production processes. This exceptional plan is based on the adoption of the best available technologies, the recovery of waste heat and the optimisation of thermal systems in order to drastically reduce the use of fossil fuels while diversifying its energy mix. So as not to strain resources that are already under pressure, a very limited use of biomass (wood and agricultural by-products) will complete this decarbonization trajectory once the energy needs of the sites have been reduced as far as possible. A total of 78 major projects will be deployed before 2033 at 16 of the Group's industrial sites.
